Hello everyone!!
I've had some good luck with my treasure hunting lately. This a pair of antique Austrian made cold painted bronze pigeons. Just look at the fine details of this pair of pigeons. They've experienced a bit of paint loss throughout their life of over 100 years. They're toes are slightly bent, but I dare not try to correct them as I fear of breaking them. These appear to be much larger than they actually are, but in reality these measure only 2.5" long, 1.5" wide and 1.25" tall. Though small in stature, they make it up in beauty. It took some time for me to find it, but this one is marked "AUSTRIA" on the breast of one of these pigeons.
Thanks for stopping in to check out my cold painted bronze pigeons!!!

super realistic and beautiful pigeons, nice find!
Thank you KinkiPlz!! They are very realistic. I love the green metallic paint they used on their heads and necks.
very nice pair of birds - look good to me at their age over 100
(don't all pigeons have bent toes)
Fabulous set of bronze pigeons with wonderful detail & great coloring for their age
Thanks Lori!! You may very well be correct about the bent toes.
Thank you Jenni! They do have some great coloring still.

Thanks very much Eileen!! That's a very sad but interesting factoid about pigeons. I never knew where the term "Pigeon Toe" originated. I grew up on a farm, as did my wife, and we still live in the country. So, the only pigeons we ever saw were in our tobacco barns and silos where they'd nest.
