Rather like spatter décors, the best way to see this décor is to look at the base. It has orange and yellow stripes divided by very thin red lines. As with others the ribs go one way, the stripes the other way. This is a new décor, regardless of how the orange is achieved.

Fab basket! I've never seen this decor in orange - it looks super!
Very interesting. So this is definitely orange and yellow, not the more usual pink and white swirl cased in amber?? Sorry if it's a stupid question.....
Thank you, Marin. Those of us without basket prejudice must stick together, lol
Wow 22, it's certainly not a stupid question. It's more difficult to assess than it usually is. For the moment I think it has a clear outer casing. There is clear visible on the ribs and there is certainly clear in the base. Further photography may help.
Absolutely! I think us basket fanciers are truly broad - minded people...& we can always make room for another basket...:-)
I do like this Pinstripe decor very much - my couple of examples are in the more commonly seen pink & blue. The orange version is extra vibrant!
The base in photo 3 looks amber to me, but it may be a photographic illusion. I don't know - this just screams pink and white swirl to me, but you are the one with the piece in hand. I hope you don't mind me asking...
So now the photo 3 you have substituted appears to have a clear base, but the decor looks even more like pink and white (definitely), lol. Am I the only one seeing pink here??
Apart from what colours were used in production the end result is great. In the photo I can see vibrant orange with light pink afterglow.
Hi. Ivonne, glad you like it.
Wow22 New 4 shows the disposition of the red lines on the pink/white version. When you compare it with the disposition of the red lines on yellow/orange version there is a difference. Additionally the pink version has a white interior but the orange/yellow version does not. On the base the scar of the snapped pontil has had to be ground, but that hasn't revealed any pink. It's certainly easier when you have the glass in hand.
Comment 1o, should read, On the base of the basket the scar of.....
Usually not a big fan of orange glass, but this one is really intriguing!!
I really like the blow up images-- seems less orange and more appealing to me!
Great acquisition to add to your Welz research library.
scott
You'd be ok scott. The yellow tones down the orange. My 'Welz Library' comes in handy sometimes.
Thanks for going to such trouble with photo updates to steer me away from pink! I'm not usually a basket fan, but the new decor is great. I continue to learn so much from your ever expanding Welz collection and your considered posts.
Wow22, it's not trouble if you believe that you should support what you say with evidence of some sort. I resisted baskets for a long time too, but for no good reason!
My experience with baskets has been that the number of shapes, although they made quite a few different ones, are more limited in number than many classifications of regular Welz production shapes.
In light of that, I started gathering (like that avoidance of the word collecting?) baskets as I found it easier in some instances to identify new decors, which may have been extremely difficult, if not impossible to tie to Welz production if found on a previously undocumented shape.
Baskets have helped to advance my understanding of Welz production in a manner that no other real grouping of shapes has. So far I have identified around 65 or 70 different basket shapes, which has led to the identification of a number of decors I would likely not have known were Welz without studying baskets.
IronLace, I notice that I didn't reply to you earlier, sorry. I will say that I have a Welz basket on its way that I think is special. I could get to enjoy basket hunting :)
Peggy, that's all good, & really looking forward to seeing that special basket, I'm intrigued by the idea of it... :-)
Loove the orange, really makes the shape and ribs stand out. It's big too!
I can see why you are getting a basket hankering Peggy.
I already have a basket hankering, Karen, and a few are 'published' baskets, so you'll be seeing more.
