US Cavalry pin belonging to a former member of the 7th Cavalry. Any info on this item? Maker? Why this pin has the Eagle’ attached?

Sweetheart pin bought at the base PX. To be worn by a family member or sweetheart to show their support of a military person.

      Probably a tie tack.

What makes this pre- WW2? I cannot see the manufacturer mark well enough (soft focus), but would think that this is WW2 era.

It's a brooch or a pin, not a tie tack. It has a circa 30's mass produced safety clasp.
