little cobalt blue SHARPE & DOHME screwtop bottle

This little blue bottle was found a few days ago in the crawlspace under my house [while chasing a frozen pipe, nevermind that] which was built in 1954, so it ain't likely any older than that. Its screwtop has the SHARPE & DOHME logo, the bottom has 'M' in a circle with '4' underneath, it is about 4" tall and 1-3/4" across.

SHARPE & DOHME seems to have an interesting story, now part of the MERCK Pharmaceutical Conglomerate in history at least.

I wiped off the dirt off the outside, the metal top is in near pristine condition, and there remains some kind of dried up residue on the inside. I did NOT attempt to open it to see what that might be... <nono> Pic 2 has a small flashlight behind it to better show the color and residue spots.
