An unusual diamond shaped vintage wooden box covered with textured fabric. from what I've found online it seems to be either a woman's train travel box (kind of like a wooden purse) or possibly a sewing box. My best guesses at this point but I am not even close to 100% sure.

I think it’s not sturdy enough for a train travel case and the latch couldn’t secure the contents during travel.
It’s about the right size to hold a crochet project, easy to carry to wherever the crocheting was being done.
