Antique Country Store Display Case

Part is obvious, part is a mystery to me. This is an antique "country store" display case with two sliding doors on one side, galvanized shelf holders, and wood plank bottom and top. I love this display and couldn't wait to clean and oil it up and ad it to my collection. I'd love if anyone out there has more knowledge on these that might help me date the piece, and provide more information. It's 36"wide, 31.5" high, and 24" deep, so quite sizeable. I'm wondering what it would have been used for originally. Thanks for looking!
