I received this copper fire extinguisher as one of three from my uncle who happens to own a fire extinguisher business. He came along these in an old shed that he was working on. I made a deal with him that if I cleaned up and polished all 3, I got to keep one. The one pictured is the one he allowed me to keep (previously covered in peeling orange paint.) I do not know much about this fire extinguisher except that it is solid copper (not copper plated) Solid brass (not brass plated), it is made by the Badger company, and from my research it seems to be one of the more rare Badger Fire extinguishers. If you look at the label you will see that it says "To Play, turn bottom side up." On all of my research most fire extinguisher say "For Fire, turn bottom side up." Now my question to you is can anyone identify a year made and give me an estimate on what it is worth? I do know that it is solid copper and brass on the outside, proven by the "scratch test". So to me that says the value of the metal alone is worth something. Im not sure if it is "rare" or not but it is definitely something i will keep. I would just like to know more about it.
The approx. value as is would be $50 - $75.00. If you have it restored at a cost of around $100.00, the value would jump up to $200 - $250.00. Check the extinguishers out on our web site http://www.oldfirestuff.com .
Just picked up one too... with the “To Play” in the instructions. Planning to restore myself.
