Havent posted anything for a while, been otherwise busy with entertaining research and new watch hobby. Found a great informative watch site and very nice people, so the days fly by, tinkering, browsing, and dealing.
Image 1 recent lot I won at private auction: Anne Klein, Bulova, Elgin, Made In China Brand, etc.
Image 2 a recent vintage J.Jill/Eclissi Sterling silver bracelet with charms and a miniature watch
Image 3 a vintage 1960s Bulova watch in 1okt rolled gold plate
Image 4 the jewel mechanism of the Bulova, which still works with winding.
The sterling bracelet/watch combo in pic 2 caught my eye at first glance -- what a *beauty* that one is!! <applause>
AO, I agree, I love the novelty and unique type of watches, that one was of excellent quality, hardly worn. Thank you.
I love the bracelet watch in picture 2! At first glance I thought it was an antique watch chain and fancy watch. It’s lovely!
I’ve been searching for a particular Bulova 14k from the 1940s. Maybe I should also find a watch group to join.
Well WS, you hit the right producer of American watches, join the site mybulova.com, you wont be sorry. They are over 10 years in accumulating a large informative database of thousands of Bulova watches from about 1920s to 1970s.
Already they were able to help me identify some of my vintage watches, you will be amazed. Thank you.
Beautiful retro watches, they're all lovely but the Lady Sovereign in foreground is so classic, great finds Lisa
I will take that advice and join that group. The watch I was so in love with is now ‘MIA’ but I have a closeup picture of it on my mom’s wrist. I found an old newspaper ad showing it and giving some details about it: from 1948, called Her Excellency Model K, made of 14K gold, it cost only $59.50!
It was old but ran beautifully.
I hope someday to find a replacement for my missing one but I’m sure the price will be significantly higher than when it was new!
Thank you, TOD, for the lead to the group!
