This clock was find when cleaning out a basement. We are trying to figure out what these letter and numbers are on the back. Any information would be helpful.
    Thank you,
    Carrie

Looking for what the S9H03 means on this clock

Looks like a hand written notation of some sort. Probably placed either by a previous owner or a clock repair/maintenance shop/person.

This looks like a Seth Thomas Adamantine Mantel clock from the late 19th Century. From the looks of the dial, it should have a Seth Thomas No. 44 "Hip" 8-day Time and Strike movement. Sometimes movements get swapped or otherwise substituted.

I'd call that a black marble or green mottled pattern.

Here's a nice, concise summary on S.T. Adamantine Clocks if you're interested: https://www.theclockdepot.com/clocks-blog/seth-thomas-adamantine-clocks/

      Hope that helps a little.

Great find. If you don't mind my asking, what are you thinking of doing with it?

      Thanks for sharing.

We are not sure what we want to do with it but we do want to get it appraised. Sure would love to know what year it was made. We read some don't come with a date on them.
