This beauty arrived today. This is such a classic and timeless piece. This brooch has a trombone clasp and is marked 935. If you look at third pic, I circled possible marks. The two circles that are together say 935 and a hallmark on top and the bottom has am M. The other under the clasp not sure if it is anything or not. Does anyone recognize the hallmark under the 935? Any ideas about age, would think with a trombone clasp it would be older. Thanks for looking
Gorgeous vintage rhinestone brooch, lovely design that reminds me of a duette - the mark 935 is silver alloy (argentium, spelling may be off) which is 93.5 percent silver
This is my guess. The M is the stone setter's mark. The 935 is a marking designating silver content higher than sterling as Jenni indicated. I think that small imprint mark is probably a European, (French?) maker's mark. Can't really read it either, but some one will recognize it I'm sure.
That's a lovely Art Deco brooch from the 1920-30s. Lovely find!
Jenni thank you for the info and comment!
Stunning piece
Plein-air-painter, thank you for that info. That makes sense about the setter initial. Just wish I knew that hallmark :)
Eileen, you are so right, there are a ton of silver marks! Thanks for loving this piece!
Aimathena, thank you for the kind words! Glad you liked!
