Here it is all cleaned up! I spent about two and a half hours in the end trying to revive the finish on this car. At first, I tried using just some soapy water to clean the dust off the cars finish, but almost nothing was happening. There was some sort of weird film that had built up on the cars paint over the years, although it was not as bad on the doors and such. Mostly just the hood area and roof. I suspect this was either from years of the car gathering dust and no one cleaning it, or something else, like smoke residue. Looking back, after noticing a slight cigar smell inside the Cadillacs cab, i realize what the film was. Probably years of smoke being in the air caused smoke and dust particles to stick to the paint. I used meguiars 3in1 wax to polish the paint, chrome, e.t.c. This took a while because you have to be very delicate to not break anything, and the whole process must be done with a que-tip and soft cloth. The luggage rack has been repaired since this post, it was easily repaired, it was not even broken really in the first place it had just broken loose from the glue holding it to the car. As for the box i said i was going to make for the rear, right now i am I'm in the process of doing that. I am using a lego crate and putting flat pieces on top, then spray painting the whole thing black to match the original. I will then use my chrome pen for the straps. As for the hood ornament, i plan to search for a replacement soon. Thanks for checking out the car!

Nice! Tobacco smoke is nasty stuff. I inherited a painting from an aunt which is by an artist known for her vibrant colors. It hung in her kitchen dining area for about 40 years and just looks like different shades of brown. She and her husband both smoked, him a pipe and her unfiltered cigarettes. I've tried cleaning a small portion of it but it took hours. It is a pretty big painting, so I just put it away until/if I feel like dealing with it.

Thats a shame. Good luck with cleaning it! Im not sure what i will do about the smell in mine but i was considering just putting a piece of a little tree air freshener in there to get rid of the smell.
