Route 66 - Chain of Rocks Bridge - St. Louis Map - 1951

Get your kicks on the Chain of Rocks Bridge!
This map was found in an abandoned gas station in 1981.
There was a solid 4 by 6 foot wall that was full of road maps from all over the country and dating from the late '40s through the 1950s and' 60s!
Many had been ruined by more than thirty years of Southern humidity and hungry varmints, but some, like this one, had miraculously survived.
My old pal and I saved as many as we could so that, some day in the far-off future, they could be shared with all you good folks here on Collectors Weekly!
It's a good thing we did rescue all those cool maps, because the gas station was bulldozed less than a year later to make way for a restaurant and a coffee shop!
Maybe I can convince my ol' buddy to post some of the ones he saved!
