The weight of this little sucker belies its rather compact size -- it weighs in at 18.5lbs, more than enough to beat the cr*p outta something even without the leverage. It is only 11-1/2" long, and it looks to me as if it got itself broken somewhere along the line, then somebody sanded/whittled down the handle stub to re-fit it -- there are old marks clearly still visible where that was done, and the way it is wedged is kinda amateurish too.
The only marking on its kinda roughly cast and finished head is a stamped "D9" on one side, I don't know whether original to it or not. Pic 2 shows that, though the camera/computer/forum absolutely insists on showing that picture upside down, which it thinks is right side up. Go figure...
And anyways, this old hammer has already proved itself handy to have around in the relatively brief time I've had it around my toolbox. Gotta love fun old tools that still **WORK**... ;-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
