What on earth is this thing? i found it in a box left next to my nursery the other day. It has a U.S. Navy insignia on it and a model no. etc. I think it's made of bronze and the portion above the base has been coated w/ a silver color. blue lettering.
I'd bet money that you've got the horn portion of a **loud** signaling device -- something akin to an 'air raid siren'. Somebody prove me wrong...?? <lol>

Yes you can heat your coffee with a microwave. Back in the day when in the USMC we had a ground surveillance radar AR/TPS-21. The beam could be directed at a c-ration at close range and heat it up. Nor recommended procedure! Rarly microwave ovens were called radar ranges.
