Here's one of those things that won't fit on the kitchen shelf, though with its red and yellow color scheme it really *should* be there somewhere...? ;-) :-) :-)
It is a THERMOS brand vacuum insulated bottle -- keeps HOT food HOT, and COLD food COLD!! (I think that was their slogan at some point, maybe later than this example?) Its inner glass liner is intact and it is complete with its red stopper and beige top/cup, there is a little bit of damage on its backside (not shown) to the paint but that's about it.
It was a storage locker re-discovery that I've had for a couple decades now, I'm not really sure how much older it could be but guessing it is 1960's or so...?
This is what I could found in Facebook:
Thermos Model 5454
1959
The American Thermos Products Co.
Wide Mouth Vacuum Bottle No. 5454
Quart size
Thermos bottles are a wonder of 20th-century design, featuring a glass vacuum bottle in metal casing, with a shock absorbing cushion inside the base. The “Polly Red Top” cap is filled with ground cork for extra insulation, and the whole unit is branded all over with the classic Thermos logo.
