I honestly don't have a clue what this is, besides 'a bowl'. It looks kinda like it should be ceramic (the bottom anyway?) inside a thickish metal (pewter?) housing, but its inside is an intricate mix of mostly blue and white color, all trimmed in shiny gold accent/detail. Glaze?? Enamel?? How'd the gold get there?? And why the heavy backing??
My questions obviously exceed my knowledge, I don't really even know where to start googling. Anybody got a handy clue or keyword or anything to share, so's I can learn something??
