I got this Coca Cola cooler a few months ago at a local vintage shop. It’s in good condition but the front is starting to look a little faded or almost dusty (shown in the close-up photo). Does anyone know how to take care of this type of cooler? Is there anything I can do to get back the original shine? The sides are not looking worn at all, so I’m not sure why the front is starting to look faded. Also, if you have any information about this kind of cooler I’d love to learn more. From what I’ve been able to find out so far I think it might be from the 30’s, but it’s pretty hard to find any information on this type specifically. Grateful for any info or help! Thanks!
Nice. 1930's 4-case cooler by maker Moss. Frame was originally green paint. Lid and cap catcher will be very difficult to find. Also was on castors. The signage looks nice, there's some value there. Soft cloth and warm water for cleaning. You can try a mild Meguiar's car polish compound, very lightly applied and rubbed, to bring back gloss to surface. Try a small spot first to be sure you won't remove any paint. Looks great at is, enjoy.
Thank you so much for all the info! I’ve seen photos of an old ad for this type of cooler (no date on the ad though) where the frame was green, so I was guessing the original frame had been painted over (the black paint is chipping in a couple of places, I wonder if it’s possible to get the original green color back?)
I’ll try cleaning it with water and applying the polish on a small spot and go from there. I’m not planning on selling it, so it’s really just to keep it looking good for a long time! Thanks again so much, I really appreciate the help!
