This beautiful Seal was my Grandfathers. I was never allowed near it when I was a kid and was kept way up high (my mother knew better!!). I talked her into letting me have it when I was settled and had my own house but at that time I wasn't interested in glass as such just liked it as it was a reminder of my Grandfather who died when I was very young. He was Danish and visited home in the late 40s and I wonder if he got it then? One evening while I was flashing my UV torch over the Uranium/Vaseline glass collection I saw it light up intensely (the picture with the UV torch on it is taken in daylight) and was amazed as it is white as seen in the picture with the HUART label. It is quite small and as I said before very delicate 120mm high, I also have a glass bird with the Huart label that shares the last picture. Does anyone know who Huart is as nothing comes up on Mr Google?

I actually think that label might say NUART.
I've looked it up & that brand was used by the US manufacturer Imperial Glass. They seemed to make mostly carnival glass & light shades, early 20th C.
Not sure where this charming seal would fit into all that, it actually looks more European in style to me, Czech or Murano.
Perhaps this was imported & sold under their label? Not sure, but it may give you some pointers for further research.

Thanks for having a look Marin. I must admit the label on the seal is a bit fuzzy but I looked at it again and the one on the bird which being on it's belly doesn't seem to be as deteriorated with a magnifying glass and I'm sure it is HUART.
I googled NUART and it does seem like only bowls and lampshades (very nice ones) and looked under Imperial glass and they had some animal figures but they were heavy cast glass, these are hollow and very light.

Hi there! I have a wee glass swan with the same label. It is definitely Huart and I've been struggling to identify it too. I am in New Zealand. Where in the world are you?
I just found another swan with the same label at an antique auction, but there was no information on the maker. Do you know loosely how old they are?

Hi Charlessi, if you check my profile you'll see we share the same bit of dirt.
Is this the one on TM?
Sorry as I mentioned above it was my grandfathers and I don't know how old it is, he died in 65 and I can't ask my mother as she isn't with us anymore either.

Hi there. These birds were made here in NZ by HUART Glassware ltd in the 1940s.
They specialised in scientific and industrial glassware... But made a sideline of novelty pieces, such as these animals.

A NZ piece! That explains why there wasn't a lot known about them elsewhere. Thanks Sunking1. :)

No worries .. I'm sure theirs very little known about them here either..
I just came across an old 1948 Huart advertisement whilst I was researching my example.

Courtesy of Sunking1 I have added a picture of some HUART advertising.
