This little neatly string-tied bundle of thingies was first found a couple decades ago in an attic, before spending another couple decades in another attic before being seen here again now. All that time I've not only not known what they are, but also not why I kept on keeping them...anybody understand that?? <giggle>
Anyway. There are 18 pieces, each a little over 30" long and 3/4" wide. Each one consists of a sheet steel strip formed into the curved profile, which has a very thin sheet brass 'skin' with its edges rolled underneath on both the long edges. (pic 4 shows how that's done) The ones that have been on the outside of the bundle are darker tarnished than the inner ones, whether they were ever brightly polished or not is yet one more unknown answer.
ANYBODY GOT A GUESS FOR ME??
The only thing I've ever thought of is that, with a little creative drilling and lots of time, they could make a way-cool brass miniblind...?? (but its a royal PITA just to shorten the typical one of those a few slats, not to mention unstringing the whole thing to start over?? <nono>)
<lol>
My guess is some sort of decorative moulding?
