The markings on this piece are too faded to distinguish. I have only been able to find one other online, but it is blue and simply marked USA. Description on this one suggests it may be Shawnee, but mine definitely doesn't read Shawnee (at least I don't think). Any idea where I could find out, or a way I can better read the bottom? Thanks for any help.

You might try dusting the base with cinnamon to see if it will settle in the markings and enhance the contrast.
I kind of doubt Shawnee, clay would be white

Great idea...I never would have thought about this. I'll give it a try!
      Thanks!
