Very early carte de visite-- probably from 1859 or 1860. The albumen print is on a very thin mount.
Image is a little rough but has great subject matter. The young woman is wearing a white off the shoulder dress and has cloth in her hand that she appears to be sewing.
Her full sewing kit is visible on the table. Thread and spool, yarn, needle case and a scissors are visible in the top of the case.
Female occupationals of this era are hard to find.
My cdv and my photos of it-- do not copy or reproduce in any form without written permission.
