    Hello everyone!
5 years ago I posted one of my antique bronze hare sculptures by Auguste Nicolas Cain. A short while later I was able to acquire a second sculpture that I never got around to posting. Here are the two hare sculptures shown together. These whimsical sculptures have always intrigued me as their detailing is so amazing. These sculptures are solid bronze and measure 4 3/4" tall and the bases are 3" at their widest point.
Auguste Nicolas Cain (1821-1894) was a Parisian sculptor and his sculptures are known for their amazing detail and these are just very fine examples of his work. These are quite unusual sculptures for Auguste Cain, as most all of his sculptures were of wildlife in their natural habitat. So, something as whimsical as these was very unusual for Auguste Cain.

Thanks for stopping in for a look at my bronze hare sculptures!!

      Jenni,
Thank you so very much! They've been a part of my collection for several years now. I found them in my storage when I went to look for my sleeping fox. I have a lot of stuff in that storage:)

Hello there! You are welcome! I was wondering if you are ever going to post a pic of your whole menagerie all together?

      Hi Celiene,
The closest I've came to posting the menagerie was when Ben Marks wrote an article about my collection last December. It would be quite a challenge to assemble to whole bunch for a photo:)

The hares could be protecting their young from hunters! Great that you found a match. They have lovely glaring expressions. Thanks for posting again.

      Hi Alfie,
I'd be willing to bet you're right about that. I was thrilled to find another of these sculptures. I too love the glaring expressions. Thanks very much!!

    27. jscott0363 jscott0363, 4 years ago
      Hi kivatinitz,
Yes, it appears that the tables have turned and now the hunted is certainly the hunter:)

      Hi Eileen!
Thanks so very much! I'm not truly sure that they're that old. But, I'm willing to believe these were made in the early 1900's, which was well after Auguste Nicholas Cain had passed away. These are very difficult to come by, So I'm so glad to have two of these in my collection. Thanks again!
