Found this in a tin that contained a lot of Cracker Jacks Charms and pins. I know it's a wire puzzle, and I know how it works.
But I don't know if it was a Give A Way item at a carnival or State Fair perhaps. In case you can't read what it says. On one side it reads "DRINK COCA - COLA IN BOTTLES" and on the other side it reads " THE PAUSE THAT REFRESHES "
Are they rare ? I've looked and can't find anything about them or any pictures of them. Any help would be appreciated.
The lack of a trademark should tell you something.
Yes I think you're right, a local bottler promotional give-away toy. Many, many different branded trinkets and knickknacks were handed out by bottlers over the years. Many times they didn't bother with the cursive logo or trademark. There is a similar puzzle shown in one of Petretti's books. Yours has a nice slogan "the pause that refreshes", which was first used in 1929. I'm guessing your piece is 1950's, maybe earlier. Nifty!
