These yunomi are about 3.75" and 3.5" high x 2.75" in diameter. They came in a tomobako and are signed on the bottom with bright gold paint and also have "Japan" labels. Unfortunately, the lid of the tomobako is missing. They are extremely thin porcelain with a grey background and green decoration (bamboo?) running completely around both cups. There are some fine lines in blue running around the inside and outside of the bases and the upper rim. Both also have a brown line running around the tops and bases. A lot of effort was done by hand to add these details. This is a very fine set. I think that I will cut up one of my old wooden cigar boxes and make a replacement lid to protect them.
I have not tried to identify the maker and may not be able to do so since the lid is missing. I will probably have to soak them and try to float off the labels and move them since they obscure the signature on both cups. These came from a seller who found them included in a lot of vintage dishes.
It has been a while since I added a new set of meoto yunomi to my pile but I have been actively looking for some unique sake cups and found this set advertised as sake cups during my search. The coloring and design is a bit odd but the detailing is very good and they came in a tomobako at a bargain price ($5 plus shipping!), so I couldn't resist. I am still collecting meoto yunomi if they are of good quality, come in a tomobako and are ludicrously inexpensive..... I did find a few interesting solo sake cups and will be posting them by and by.
Fabulous set, the green bamboo pattern is really beautiful Kevin

Those cups are gorgeous! A little bit unusual design, and all the lovelier for it. Wonderful find!
Thanks for your comment rhineisfine! Hopefully, I will get some time, soon, to dig into identifying the maker marks on the bottom. Very curious as to what kiln made this oddball set.
