Have looked at this in a local shop for a few weeks love the shape/texture and that the last inch or so is solid glass (much more functional if I used it as a vase). Knew it wasn't Whitfriars as theirs have a pressed in bottom so assumed it was Japanese as much of the glass in this country is. On getting home I let my fingers do the walking on Mr Google and it seems it is a Scandinavian Sea Glasbruk from Sweden, a 60's piece. 205mm high. After having a bit more of a look around it might be Tajima!

I would be very wary of relying on Google. I have never found a reliable attribution of these being Sea glasbruk so would be interested in seeing your reference.

Just from looking at 100s of bark glass vases on ebay etc or items being shown on different websites and finding some that were the same design & base shape one in particular from a seller in Pitea Sweden who specialised in retro glass and porcelain. But I stand to be corrected.

Even sellers in Sweden get it wrong because often they are basing their listings on other misdescribed listings. I could point you to 100's of items that have been sold that are not what the seller says they are. But if you are an unsuspecting buyer and you see something has sold with a particular description why wouldn't you think it correct? I have amassed gigabytes of reference material over the years as well as having many contacts in Sweden too and as I said have yet to find a solid reference to these being Sea. I'd happily be proved wrong though.

Found references - Shoei glass from Japan.
