    Besides 'Made in Japan', i'm not sure what else is said here or on the back. I love the wood texture and color. This one reminds me of the bakelite one i posted recently. i don't think that this could be considered folk art, but not sure where else to put it.

      The writing on the front says “kotobuki” which means longevity and is used as a salutation like “to long life” (like “salud”) or “congratulations.”

      I think the engraving above the label on the bottom just says "Made in Japan" in Japanese :) The first two characters are definitely "nihon" (Japan), at least, and I think the fourth is "sei" (made), although I'm not sure about the third.
