These vaguely Art Deco-style sterling earrings are made by an unknown jeweller who stamped his wares with "F.S. Ster." I've never managed to find out anything about him. His pieces typically feature simple rhinestone arrangements - usually emerald-cut rhinestones, or rows of small chatons. Once I even saw a sterling rosary with that mark! I keep coming across Canadian sellers with "F.S. Ster." items, so perhaps this maker was Canada-based?
I bought these earrings because I liked the unusual design and its mixture of pink and white stones. (If some of the rhinestones look slightly grey or lilac, it's due to reflection.) I'm guessing from the screwbacks and overall design that these date from the 1940s or perhaps a little earlier. The earrings seem to have gold vermeil over the silver, but that could just be yellowing from years-old silver patina.
P.S. I promised to user Freiheit several months ago to post these, so finally - here they are!

Gorgeous pink & white screwback earrings, vintage beauties! Yes the mark 'ster' means sterling, if golden they add a gold wash or vermeil

I love the design also and those baguettes of fantastic colouring, yet subtle, make this piece easily ooze beauty and elegance ! Magnifico !~

Newfld, thank you for your kind comments and for loving my earrings! Yes, perhaps this is indeed a gold wash. (I'm hesitant to try polishing it to find out - and anyway I rather like patina ;)

freiheit, hello *waves vigorously* and thanks for visiting my listing and commenting and adding some love. We are "F.S. Ster." cousins now! Hopefully one of these days I'll find out more about this mysterious jeweller, and if I do, I will be sure to share it with you. I hope you are still enjoying your beautiful rhinestone bracelet!

Ms.CrystalShip, thank you for your praise and for kindly loving these earrings. Screwbacks are getting rarer, aren't they! I have mixed feelings about wearing them, because ouch - but I love the idea of them very much, and of course it's a style of finding that feels very nostalgic.

Phil, thank you for your generous words and for loving this piece. And for reminding me that this elongated cut of rhinestone is properly called a "baguette" - for some reason I seem to have a mental block on that word! I agree with you about the fantastic colouring; I'm not normally a fan of pink automatically, but this pair is making me rethink that. Not to mention that gorgeous pink/green Sherman demi-parure of yours!
