Isn't she lovely?
The posture of this slim woman, kneeling and leaning away from the birds, has so much life to it. Her delicate facial features and flowing hair are so feminine.
The sculpture has been cast from bronze and is hollow and measures 23cm. There is a makers seal but I know next to nothing about the artist.
All I know is what the seller told me: it is by a sculptor named Noguchi and he was a recognised artist awarded many prizes. I haven't found anything more.
It doesn't matter, she is a delight to have around.
Isamu Noguchi?
http://Www.noguchi.org if you think it is his work.
Hi Kevin. I don't think it's Isamu Noguchi. I think it is outside his design style and I couldn't find a mark like this for him.
Did he actually work in Japan or just the US?
Thanks Pacem
IN was born in the US. Some of his s early stuff was more realistic... I don't know if he ever used a mark like this. I have looked through his catalog before as I have the work of one of his students in my collection.
He had strong ties to Japan.
His catalog is on the museum web site, but there are not images of all of his work.
This piece actually looks familiar to me, the kissing birds on the woman's arm..... Can't remember though....
Very nice piece !
Wonderful bronze sculpture!!
Stunning bronze sculpture, this lady is poetry in motion from her swaying long hair to undulating body, and the birds on her shoulder enhance her natural beauty
Thanks Mani, lovely to hear from you!
Scott she is slimmer than your bronzes and as sweet as yours too.
Thanks mate.
Lovely description thanks Jenni. There is movement in her isn't there! The birds are a sweet touch.
You can see her moving gayly near a pond....
Very feminine, which the world needs more of! Her energy is expressed nicely by the sculptor.
Love it!
She would be perfect in that setting. Thank you Sylvie.
Alfie thanks for your feminine appreciation :)
Ta VL!
Thanks so much MsCrystal!
