This desk was in my family home(s) the entire time I was growing up, until the first residence I occupied by myself then every one of those since. (until this one which it hasn't yet made it into, but it will soon when more boxes get outta the way) Along with a few original marks, it is marked (in my mom's hand) to tell when Mom and Dad got it and from who -- exactly within the very first year of my own life. It was already old then, even though I wasn't... :-)
It is walnut veneer with fancy edges and legs and a single drawer. Showing its age now whatever that really is, the original finish is both crinkled and worn in all the usual places, there are a few spots where the veneer has lifted, and several small bits of the applied fancy wood detail decoration are missing -- I have every missing little bit afaik. :-) :-) :-) In total honesty it is now in very near the exact condition it was when I first got it and began to use it -- it has always 'needed restoring' and I've never attempted to do so, just keeping it "like it was". (except for the dust layer on top...I did that...) ;-) :-)
I've got a few more pics to make a 2nd showing with this piece, found here
