It looks kind of like a cap / lid for something, but the underside of the rim does not seem practical for remaining attached. Maybe it's just a sample of mulberry wood?! Anyone know?

How big is it? I have a little (mebbe 3"?) rosewood bowl I use for coins on the dresser, could it be something like that?
You have your top and bottom mixed up. Where it is marked is the bottom which is a stand for the tray. I turned one of Padauk but mine is slightly different and has a glass insert for a bowl of dip.
it's 4" across Obscure. Thanks fhrjr2. that makes sense. i wonder why it says mulberry on it?
