This 2 1-2"W silvertone brooch shows a mother & baby monkey with shiny gold flecked enamel fur, white rhinestone accents, and both having a pair of green eyes. By St John from their mother & child animal series of the 1980s, SJ logo held by trembler baby and on back. SJ founded by Marie St John in 1962

Is this another version of the Tiger and Cub brooch you have?! This is a really sweet little brooch, mama monkey seems to be smiling back at her baby, with the baby looking very mischievous of course!

Phil you're so right, monkeys not only get attention they seek it out, one of the most social animals! As I was born in the Year of the Monkey, as a child I was always chattering away & had a short attention span just like them, which has fortunately tamped down with age a bit. Great memory Lauren, the tiger & baby brooch I posted was a similar pose with the baby peering over its back, and I've actually posted several of these mother-child animals from the St John series over the yrs including elephant, kangaroo, cheetah and giraffes. It was a great series and I think I have most of them now & I too find the poses sweet with the young'uns next to Mom and their great expressions. Fantastic comment & observ, thank you so much
