I found this little desk in an antique shop 45 years ago. It was covered in many layers of paint. I stripped and refinished it. Can anyone guess at the wood type? I have never been able to find a good guide on how to determine that in old furniture.

Cherry maybe? It's very pretty. It's also of the period about when you purchased it. Maybe the 70s.
