The title says most of it -- this is a roughly 19" x 26" depiction of trees/moon in the snow (I think?) done in yarn with a latch-hook. In the 1970's (-ish) my family had lots of "arts and crafts hobbies" (I guess?) and making latch hooked (rug) kits were but one of the list. My Dad made this particular example, which has always been a wall decoration somewhere -- now in my own home. Meaningless to most everybody in the world, except me...?! :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
I can appreciate your attachment to it...your father put in a lot of hours so he obviously loved it also.
I latch hooked a large scene of evergreen trees in the ‘70s, framed it and it hung on my walls for 10+ years.....I gave it away when I moved and downsized. I’ve regretted that ever since. Good for you for hanging on to yours!
Thanks kindly and sincerely to dav2no1, vetraio50, Watchsearcher, jscott0363, Brunswick, fortapache, aura, & Manikin for your <love it>s - also Watchsearcher for your oh-so-understandable feeling for yours. What I really wish I had (but didn't end up with) was one of the handmade multicolor yard rugs my grandfather made in his nursing home -- they were a different common style of arts/crafts we made at home too, using a couple of short boards fastened together with a pair of alligator clamps attached that held something...I don't really remember what that was called or how the process worked.
Hmmm....that description doesn’t ring a bell in the ‘craft-archive’ of my mind but I understand how something your grandfather made would be a treasure.
