Refer to the Chi-Town Hustlers for other photos of this model. In the meantime I added free bonus photos of mostly Johnny Lightning models.
Roland Leong was the owner of the Hawaiian, Butch Maas was the driver of this car I believe. Leong was originally a dragster man but switched to Funny Cars because they were getting all the bookings at the drag strip. Told you Funny Cars were getting all the attention. Butch Maas got his Funny Car license driving Don Prudhomme's Hot Wheels Funny Car seen in in photo #2. The real one that is.
On the front is a hood scoop. This is for the air that would go under the front during a race to vent.
Still plenty of toys to post but no scout stuff but do have an exciting sign.
Nice collection. I was friends with Mike Gogan, who raced with jerry ruth. Mike and jerry had gone to prison together on the 80s. I used to see him at the local bar and we'd drink and have lunch. He had lots of good stories from the old days. I had been to his house several times and always admired his collection of rail dragsters, which is what they had raced. He knew I liked them and finally said he'd sell them to me for a really good price, because he knew I'd care for them. I hadn't seen him in awhile and when I finally had the money, I went looking for him and found out he had passed away..he was battling cancer...that was 2013.
Very cool :)
Nice collection
