The downstairs full bath is just off the kitchen down a narrow hallway. It really needed a complete upgrade. Gone is the ugly lime green paint and the horrible 70's dark walnut cabinets. The gold sheet vinyl floor replaced by a clean black and white hexagon tile. We used it throughout the house for backsplash, flooring and the fireplace hearth.
The Victorian dresser we bought a year ago to use as the vanity. Normally I wouldn't cut into a piece but these are fairly common. The top was missing it's backsplash and the holes filled with wood putty. So it was a less than perfect example but it still hurt. We installed a surface mount basin so the top had to have a hole drilled for the plumbing. The drawers had to be cut out inside as well to accommodate water lines. They still open and are usable just need compartments made to keep things from falling through the cutouts.
The final touch was the stained glass panel to cover the small window next to the tub. Its a southern exposure so the little birds glow in the morning sunlight. The bird in the center is a Cardinal which happens to be Ohio's state bird. -Mike-

Thanks for the "love" and the compliment Jenni. We've used a few stained glass panels in the house. They'll show up in future posts. :)

I'd (too?) normally kinda frown at cutting into something old to make something new -- but in this case I certainly agree that the end result is WELL WORTH bending those general rules ever so slightly. A 2000% improvement over the former, in every aspect!! <hearty applause>

Congratulations on escaping from the 1970s! Love the window. Cardinals are my favorite bird, first at the feeder in the morning, last in the evening. They live up to 15 years, pair for life and one always stays in an elevated position guarding the other while it eats. Also state bird of Illinois!

Thanks Phil for "love" and compliments. So nice to hear from you again it's been a while.

Thanks Kwqd...I love Cardinals too. Even though they are the state bird I rarely see but one or two a year. They seem to love blue spruces which is were I usually see them in our neck of the woods.

I love this vintage style and the sink is beautiful! Do you have a shower cabin or a tube? I also want to redecorate my bathroom to create a vintage style, but I have a rather modern bath https://bathroomer.org/best-drop-in-bathtub/ like this and I don't know I need to change it to a new one or not.
