These cuties are a bit of a puzzle but I am sure they are Italian because the silver mark is for Chimera Oro a jeweler in Arezzo which was established in 1972. The mark reads star 122 AR and 925.
I have contacted the jeweler to see if they have any history regarding these fish but unfortunately have had no reply.
They have been made by forming glass bodies on a pontil and while the glass has been hot the eyes, mouth, and fins have been pressed on.
The pontil marks have been ground but not polished.
Sadly one fin of the tail on the smaller green fish has been broken at some stage.
They are small but look great as a group and light up on my window sill. I'm thinking they are a 70s era make, just have that vibe for me.
Largest is 6cm x 4cm.
They are so adorable and the colors spectacular!!!! I love them! :- )
Beautiful lively fish, what fantastic shapes and colors - a joyful group
Thanks FreshAir for loving these little Italian fish or pesce piccolo!
Joyful, that's a great word. They are indeed Jenni :))
very nice to display over a blue tray
Very quality Karen, I see quality when I view these !~
I've never seen the like but they are just gorgeous. Thanks for the introduction!
Love these :-)
Thanks Sylvia I will get a sea for them!
Eileen thanks for the fishy love.
That’s really interesting about the true jelly belly pieces. A very cool story and all new to me. Thanks for that too!
Phil thank you! Yes I agree, you know quality.
Happy to introduce them to you Peggy. They really caught my eye too when I saw them, so novel and and sweet.
Thank you Ms Mani!
So nice to hear from you GG, and thanks!
I admit to being constantly attracted to cute.
Cute little fish- reminds me of those you see on those old neo-classical fountains, I especially love how the bigger orange ones looks just like little whales, all are very sweet :P
They certainly have whale tails Lauren! I guess the scale to the other fish is a bit wrong but hey, it's all creativity.
Thanks for your comment, a smiley one as usual!
Very unusual Karen...at least to me. I've not seen this type of marriage using glass and metal before.
Adorable! I love the orange ones especially.
Thanks Mike. I hadn’t seen it before and that plus the cuteness factor meant I had to have them!
Celiene their little whale tails do it!
Thanks :)
The orange ones look particularly real for these glass mainly fish. The most beautiful to me, but did not read Eileens comment as sometimes if I do not read mine it is the same comment Jenni or Eileen make.
Thanks Phil, I often make similar comments to others then I feel a real goose!
The orange ones really stand out in the group and are nicely fishy. The green ones are just funny!
