Collectabl…

Sometimes I've just got to pinch myself. I have just received a bundle of what was listed as misc. Silver, I paid £16.00 and hoped for the best. Well first thing out of the parcel was this rather battered but wonderful solid silver hallmarked, crested meat skewer Recognizing immediately the Lion Passant for solid silver, makers mark TJ and a crest with initials RB. It's a shame the hallmarks weren't complete so if anyone could help with any info on the possible age or knowledge on the crest it would be greatly appreciated. I will post the rest of this interestin bundle over the next week or so. Could this be Hester Bateman ? Probably not. I am now leaning towards an Irish maker ?
google for International Encyclopedia of Hallmarks. It will come back as having numbers leading the url. It is a great site for any country marks.
Thanks fhrjr2 no joy yet but I'll keep ploughing through. It's more of the crest that's interesting. The closest I've got is possibly Hester Bateman which if it is we're talking 18th century and quite valuable.
Hester’s maker’s Mark is HB and is unmistakable.
Thanks vetraio50, so it's not him then. Neil
