Most army canteens are pretty common and the majority of metal ones are aluminum. This canteen was manufactured in 1943, early in USA's involvement in WW2 and made of stainless steel. But what makes it rare is it's manufactured by Rutenber Electric Co. who didn't make large numbers of canteens like other companies.
