This is made if wood. Internal is seamless white plastic and the tip of the plunger has a metal tip. The plunger stops way before the bottom of the wood outer. Please help!! I'm close to 70 and it has always been around, sitting in a drawer. No one has ever known what it is?

Well..thats what I found..not sure if that's correct or how it really works..2 piece doesn't seem practical for that application? Is the size correct do you think? It looks kinda big..

My other guess was a contraption to make paper wads for old pistols ..but didn't look right either.

Maybe the top is the bottle stopper and the bottom is just for storage? Not sure...

      Dimensions would help.

@ dav2no1 - looks like a match to me. The e-bay listing is in Italian, but picking out words from it I read that it's a vintage era item - anyone speak Italian that can read the e-bay listing in full?

I have put it into a wine bottle and it does fit. However, it makes the bottle so tall and top heavy that it is a bit silly. Solid wood is heavy overtall weight say 200grammes

Also, for Italian wine lovers, the poor base would be very lonely sitting around empty most of its life.

I'd be interested in any serious ideas or perhaps information shewing it in use?
Dimensions (mm) are : overall height (stopper within the base) 200; base diameter 450; metal stopper diameter 150; length stopper could go go inside a bottle say 100; height of base including "neck" 110; gap between bottom of base and inner plastic lining heading up to "neck" 250; height sitting on top of bottle say 900.

I think unless you have it in your hand, it is impossible to comprehend.

It would make more sense that it is for oil bottles maybe in use during cooking? But then again, if the base was used to stop it dripping on counters, it would still need to be on a plate or cloth which defeats the purpose of having the base!

      Very annoying item!!!

Take care everyone and thank you for your time to respond.
