I really haven't been doing much "thrifting" in the past couple years. I was out and about yesterday and the "Goodwill" was right next door to where I was shopping. I have a limit as to how long I can stand being in those horrible masks...like 20 min. ! Makes shopping an uncomfortable chore on an 80 degree day. I'm glad I did because this graceful beauty was sitting next to the checkout. She's quite large about 30" L 20" H. Can't find out much about the artist or the "Green River Trading Co." but a quick Google showed a few smaller examples of his work. I balked a bit because of the price but it didn't seem too out of line from what little I had found out. Thought it would be appropriate to do the photos out by the farm's pond. It's stocked with lots of fish. Mostly Bluegills a few Bass and a couple Carp I added to control algae blooms. Don't really fish it though. The fish are so tame from pellet feeding it just wouldn't be fair. As you can see the dock is in need of a new deck. The cistern she's sitting on I believe is somewhat like a hydrant in case of fire. Not really sure. Most farms have ponds as there are no fire hydrants in rural areas. We argued with the insurance company and won citing the pond as a water source in case of fire. Its starting to grow out around the berm which I like much better than chopped clean like a golf course water hazzard. -Mike-
Beautiful swan and looks lovely with the pond backdrop!! Must be fun feeding the fish!!!
Hi FreshAir...thanks for the "love" and compliment. Yes the fish are fun. As soon as they see my shadow they come running and will follow you around the pond as you walk around the bank. They are more pet than game.:)
a very nice sculpture
