This pin has been in my life for as long as I can remember, I am guessing it is from the 1930s. I am 99% sure it is not real because I was allowed to play with it as a child. Anything that you might be able to tell me about it would be helpful. There are no markings on the back. I would never sell it because it brings back so many happy memories of my childhood

This brooch has the earmarks for the 1940s. It might be silver. During WWII the lack of imported rhinestones forced American manufacturers to develop crystal manufacturing. The style for the stones, partially influenced by regulations, capabilities and fashion, was big. It's a lovely brooch and wonderful that it has sentimental value, too.

Myself, I think late 40's to early 50's, love the prong set dark ruby stones !~

Thank you so much for the interesting explanation. These are questions which I wish I had asked my mother about but did not. My grandmother was a poor immigrant and not flashy in any way shape or form so this brooch is completely out of character. I would never give it up or sell it because just looking at it brings me happiness . Unfortunately there were a few other ones that I played with as a child but have no idea what happened to them.
