The dining room is opposite the living room through a large archway. The huge window in this room is on the west side of the house and floods the room with light all year long. These rooms would have comprised the original 1865 home. The basement ceiling below even has actual logs as joists supporting the floors above. There is an area of patched flooring by the chimney where a stove of some sort used to be. Lots of "eye candy" in this room but quite frankly I don't think I'd feel comfortable eating here on a daily basis. I'm more a kitchen table person, maybe for the holidays though. The round dining table came with a crate storing many leaves so it can seat a few people when extended. I love the half round oak curio with it's curved glass and mirrored back. The carved lion's heads are awesome and its filled with goodies. China cabinet the same. Basically a treasure box. Last, the little piano desk by the north window is perfect for that space. The pink globe lamp is my sister's find and the enamel glass pair of vases I picked up at Salvation Army a few years ago. -Mike-
Nice!! I love the piano desk!
Thanks Scott, it is a nice little piece. Lots of pigeon holes and hidden compartments. :)

Wow Mike, your house is perfectly curated and warm and functional too.
Your time has been very well spent.
Thanks so much Karen. It's been a crazy past few years. I never thought I'd see the day it would be nearing completion. Talked to my sister yesterday. She's hoping to spend a week this Summer. It's been over a year since her last visit. She's not seen the finished kitchen or bath yet except in pictures. Then, we have to clear out and sell my parent's home before I can move in and start caretaking. :)
