This small, smiling Buddha is a flea market find. Cast in bronze, 'cire perdue'. 9.5 cm high. Found in the soil somewhere ? South East Asia. Burma/Myanmar ? Thailand ? Or ? And how old ? Many questions. I hope you can answer some of them ?
i am pretty sure that this is a Thai Buddha - by the hairstyle. It might be an amulet.
If you shake it, does it rattle? I had a couple of these when I lived in Thailand and they always had a bead or something inside that rattled when it was shaken.
where in Thailand did you live kwqd? i spent quite a bit of time in Jungwat Praa, but also some time in Konken in the northeast, and of course in the south in Surrath Thani.
Mostly Udorn, also spent some time in Nakhon Phanom and Korat.
Went to Krung thep and Pattaya Beach a few times. Just visiting.
Looks more Burmese to me..
Thanks for the comments. No rattling.
