Long long time ago when me and my wife were very young, we had a dear friend who past away, his son came from the U.S. to settle his affairs, he said to us, you knew my Dad better than me, Please take your pick of his ornaments, I always liked this jar, so thats what I took to remember Harry.
It is silky smooth to the touch, the glaze is perfect, so smooth, and thats what I liked about it. The silver lid has always been in place, hence why the rim has no tarnish, never been polished.
Apart the from the obvious Delft mark, I have no idea when or where it was made.
I think it is a lovely piece, what do think.
This is hand painted Regina pottery WB Delfts Blue from the Netherlands (Holland). 1935 - 1979 Delft earthenware
The factory was founded by Gerrit Frederik van der Want, a scion of the Gouda pottery family Van der Want, and Georges Antoine Alexis Barras, a Belgian moneylender and art collector. Their initials WB are therefore on almost all products.
The silver rim is marked HB and that is from the German brand HERMANN BAUER. Silver purity standard is 835. 83,5% (.835) silver and 16,5%% (.165) copper.
Thank you very much for that information, very kind of you, that would make some sence, has he did mention 1939.
Thank you again.
