Okay, this is not my usual thing...but...at $8, what could I do?
I haven't seen any Murano glass like this in an op shop for so long...back in the early 1990s, when I started collecting glass, it was fairly common. There used to be quite a bit in my collection, but I sold most pieces I had from 2014 onward.
This is a nice piece in great condition, still with the original "Made in Italy" label on the base.
Heavy & chunky, with a biomorphic, vaguely sea - shell inspired form, it measures around 15.5 cm wide across, & has a decor of autumnal hued canes & gold leaf inclusions on a white ground.
Beautiful!! I love the shape of this one.
Many thanks, Scott!
That’s so! pretty, and great to get it with the label, makes dating so much easier..well done!
Good to get a label and I am amazed your oppy didn't add another $20 or more because of it. My locals are getting too knowledgeable (and may I say greedy?).
Yeah I'm surprised to see it was you Marin, but yes at that price for such a nice piece what could you do!
Karen, I know...so that made this an extra special bargain!
This was from a shop in the lower Mountains rather than any of my locals... :-)
Absolutely, Bernard! I just could not turn it down, & it took me back to the good old days of op shopping 30 years ago when there were many bargains to be had...I was a struggling art student back then so my funds were limited to say the least, but I was still able to score plenty of loot!
Oh, & do forgive my responses being a tad out of order (I shall blame Friday night drinks for that LOL) - much appreciated Penny!
