My mother left me these spoons, but didn't provide any information about them. They appear to be American coin silver, and have a mark from R.H. Bailey, a silversmith who worked out of Woodstock, Vermont starting in 1830. My grandmother lived in Woodstock, so perhaps she just picked these up at an antique store or garage sale. However, the name Pratt is also in my family tree, so I'm wondering if there is some connection. (The spoon appears to be engraved "E.L. Pratt.") However, the Pratts I have identified as ancestors are from the 1600s and 1700s, and I have thus far been unable to find a descendant with the first initials "E" "L" who might have had R. H. Bailey make these spoons. Also, those Pratts aren't on my grandmother's side of the family. My birth father is also from Vermont, so maybe there's a connection there. Anyway, this is just one of the intriguing mysteries my mother left me! If anyone can tell me anything about these type of spoons (or these spoons in particular), or has any ideas on how I can trace them back, I'd be grateful!
