Beautiful thick glass holds something has fish mouths on either end?

I found this in a pile of stuff that was cleared from a house. Judging by the other objects it was with looked to be belongings to an elderly person- I think it is beautiful but have no idea what it would be used for? It’s about 8” long, very heavy, hollow inside so could contain liquid or solids- looks like there are fish mouths on either end?

If you know please answer. It is driving me crazy
