    Hi everyone!
I recently saw our CW friend dav2no1's (Dave) cast iron piggy bank and it inspired me to dig mine out of storage and post it. dav2no1's is in better condition than mine as mine has quite a bit of paint loss. I love this design as every aspect of her is well defined from her snout right down to her curly tail. I'm really not sure of when this was manufactured, but I'd be willing say the early to mid-1900's.
This design has been reproduced many times over, but this one is an original. You'll notice that the reproductions are a much rougher casting and will typically have machining done to it. The originals are smooth castings and you won't find any machining on the originals either. She's fair sized and measures 10 1/2" long and 5 3/4" tall and weighs around 4lbs.

Thanks for stopping in for a look!!
    Scott

      That's a nice bank!

And just to clarify...its dave to no one...so its o not zero. I took this name in the beginning of the internet era when there wasn't many people around. Actually my first computer was a commodore vic 20, then I moved to a commodore 64(yes..64k of memory!). My friends and I ran our own bulletin boards...thats what they called it..kinda like a modern web page, only you dialed a phone number for every one. Very slow connection speeds..300 bps and if your mom, dad, brother or sister picked up the phone you would loose connection..

      kwqd,
Thanks! I I wiped it down with gun oil to keep it from rusting. But, I too love the patina.

I do appreciate the comment. Thanks very much for the clarification. That's pretty neat how you came up with your username.

      Hi Phil,
The slot is right on the very top, behind her ears.

I just bought one on Monday at an antique store, paid $15 which I thought was a good price. I have a pretty extensive collection of piggy banks and this is one that will make a great addition.
