Here we go again from the 'WOW, the stuff other people throw away' department... ;-)

While walking the dog the other day I lifted the lid of somebody else's trash dumpster cart to deposit a piece of litter otherwise just picked up from the curb. What to my wondering eyes should appear laying right on top of the black plastic bags but THIS -- quite naturally I said to myself "of course I'll take that" and slipped it right into my pocket as I kept going with Oreo. :-)

Once getting back home I looked at it closer, its lower housing was kinda loose and came fully unscrewed while I was figuring out how it all went together, so I was able to see whats INSIDE -- pic 3 -- there's a real live old-timey *vacuum tube* up in there?!! (pic 4 is its microphone element inside the top)

To the Googles I went then, being somewhat astounded at the *price* these things apparently sell for, not to mention the idea that they are apparently still being manufactured and are of extremely high quality -- most of which I would have never expected given where I got the thing...???

I have no idea exactly how old it is or if it works or not, if there was a cord for it also in that trashcan I didn't find that then and the can got dumped before the next evening's dog walk. It shouldn't be difficult to source the connector and wiring diagram anyway if I do get around to testing it -- if not, it'll still be way-fun shelf dressing...? <lol>

Sure you weren't dumpster diving? :)

Nope BHIFOS -- not at all, this time... ;-) ;-)

(as a rule I have no qualms at all with doing so every so often, but not *this* time...)

Got to put my hand up too.
Years ago here in New Plymouth they used to have footpath junk collections once a year, when I was about 8 or 9 I used to bring home all sorts of neat stuff. Sadly it stopped soon after.....I always used to think my long suffering mother had something to do with that!
