Recently I have been trying to investigate a "paperweight", which I have, that has always puzzeled me. Strathearn, Perthshire, early transitional Ysart, with no discernable indication as to its maker or age, ( perhaps late 1960's ) ! ?? In old article in the "Paperweights Collection Association", September 2003, by Richard More, he
pointed out some very interesting observations regarding Strathearn, and Herbert Dreier.

The weight was given to me in London by my Cousin more than 30 years ago with two Millefiori "Cone" shaped Inkwells that clearly display a "B" cane, which again is a mystery. I will post photos of those separately

This weight is unusual having a 1-2-2-2 concentric 10 spoke design with a very unusual central cane which I do not believe I have seen elsewhere. It measures almost 3" accross and abot 2 1/2" in height, and for its size "HEAVY" in weight. It is clear without bubbles on a maise yellow cushion.

I would appreciate to learn more about this weight if anyone out there can assist me with an opinion,,,,,,

    Many thanks,

Roger, you might find some good stuff in this interview with Richard More:

By the pastel colours and canes it looks very early Perthshire 1969/70.

I have a paperweight with canes in it similar to the one shown. I took it to the antique roadshow and the lady there said she saw and S on it and it could be. She said it was a Strathern. Is it possible they said with an S? How can you tell the difference?

Almost with out a doubt early Perthshire and would go well with your perthshire ink bottle from the same source.
